International Learning Center: Empowering Milwaukee’s Refugee Community Since 1981

42

Neighborhood House’s International Learning Center (ILC) is the largest educator of refugees in the State of Wisconsin.  We’re proud to offer adult basic education, citizenship, and jobs help to almost 800 refugees a year. For the refugees and immigrants of 1717, 1817, 1917 or 2017, true self sufficiency means earning the language, job skills, and citizenship privileges needed to participate in the Milwaukee community.  It is a process that has been a timeless part of the American dream.

Our work with refugees today is only possible through the financial support we receive from our governmental and private partners and the donated talents of hundreds of volunteers.  To learn a more about this partnership, we invite you to listen to this brief message from Neighborhood House Executive Director Jeff Martinka, accompanied by two ILC students, Sumeya and Mohamad.
